Chapter 8: Retreat

He was missing her more and more as each day passed by, he began to question whether what he was doing was worth the effort, after all he wanted to be with her in the future but the future he could see right now was more and more clouds rather then more and more of her. He was extremely tired but he was desperate to see her, since he had missed dinner with her she went to her place, only to find out that she was not home yet. He began to wonder what happened since it was getting pretty late at night and normally she would be home by now, plus he couldn't get through her phone.

She wanetd to call Raymond but her handphone was dead, after the coffee mini picnic by the beach, they had stayed on to talk until late in the night whereby the stars were shining and only did they realise how late it was. Kevin had however discovered how much similarities they have such as reading, listening to music peacefully and the dislike of noisy places, he had the feeling that they were a match. A perfect match. It was getting kinda late but they were hungry too, and she came up with the idea of having dinner in another "tai pai tong". Dinner went smoothly and soon it was time to go home.

She was pretty exhausted by then and feel asleep in the car with his soft music and comfortable chair, when he reahced her house he woke her up and walked her up to her flat, there was however a guy standing in front of her door. She did not realise that Raymond was standing there, his expression was one of anger and sadness. She realised he must have waitied at her doorstep for quite a while instead of going home to rest. She took the chance to introduce both of them to each other.

The look on his face told him that he liked her, she had assured him that their relationship were only one of friends and nothing more. But he knew. He didn't know why he felt so insecured at that moment, maybe it was becuase of the distance that they were now facing. Suddenly he felt as if the whole world was collapsing on him, was it because of his job? was it becuase of the time that they now could not spent together? or was it becuase of the fact that not only was this guy rich and famous but also the fact that he looks decent and is probably smart as well. He saw himself as inferior to him. He could picture a better future for her to be with him insetad of himself.

She could see the dissapointment on Raymonds face, she questioned whether it was his tiredness or whether it was the meeting between them and decided as a matter of fact that it was the latter, she wanted to assure him that nothing would change her love towards him, but she knew that words alone would not make that guarantee, and instead she choose to cuddle him, she wanted him to feel that her heartbeat was beating along with his, they were working together as one couple in the same direction, not two lonely souls each walking seperately. Suddenly he could feel her back into her world, the feeling that he had yearn for days, her warm, her soul, her breath. He knew from that moment she was the only thing that he needed in her life, she might not be as rich as Kevin but money does not mean everything in the world. SHE WAS THE WORLD.

He looked up back to the unit she was staying and saw both of their shadows, whcih were entwined within each other, they were kissing each other, each unwilling to let go of the fire and passion that had been build up from the days that had passed. He was the delight on her face when she found him standing by the doorside. Although he had never heard about him, he could feel that they were serious, she loved him, and this meant that he had to RETREAT.
